A prominent Chicago clergyman, well known in the African-American community, announced he has prostate cancer.
Bishop Larry Trotter, a senior pastor at Sweet Holy Spirit Church of Chicago, got the initial diagnosis in March 2013.
The 56-year-old bishop says he feels good and has maintained a normal church schedule. Doctors say that the cancer is in its earliest stages and that his prognosis is good. Trotter has even pledged to become a public voice and an advocate for early?detection test?for prostate cancer.
Trotter will undergo surgery on May 20.
