If you think a mustache or beard solely to distinguish sex, think again. Hair that grows around the mouth it offers health benefits.
Researchers from the University of Southern Queensland recently demonstrated, mustache and beard to help reduce the risk of skin cancer.
Using dosimetric techniques, researchers began a study. Dosimetric techniques is the measurement of skin that shows the amount of radiation absorbed by the skin tissue over a period of time.
The results show that the beard and mustache to help reduce exposure to sunlight on the skin by a third, and this helps reduce the risk of skin cancer. The longer the hair around the mouth, the better to protect from the risk of skin cancer.
But not to worry. The women who do not have beards can still reduce the risk of skin cancer.
Previous research has found that the hair on the head also helps reduce the risk of cancer from exposure to sunlight or ultraviolet rays.
