Google's travel tools, Hotel Finder and Google Flights, have recently been updated with new features for trip planning. Hotel Finder now offers neighborhood overviews and lets you search by hotel specifics (e.g., "three stars Wi-Fi in NYC"). Google Flights shows airfare prices for entire regions, e.g., Western Europe or the Caribbean.
The Hotel Finder update is really handy if you're visiting an area you don't know much about, because you can see where the hotels are in relation to the spots you're going to be visiting. As before, you can also draw your own custom map area to find the perfect hotel and filter the results by price, ratings, amenities, and?new in this version?brand (great if for hotel loyalty rewards). Even better, the ability to add your filter terms in the search makes finding a hotel much faster.
The new regional search for Google Flights is great if you're still planning where you should go on vacation. While other flight search tools let you look up a few airports at a time, with Google Flights you can search an entire continent or region and see at a glance, for example, that it's cheaper to fly to Cancun than it is Acapulco. Also, you can filter the map by price (e.g., under $400) and just scroll around the map to get destination ideas.
