The music industry delivers music to the public that they want to be heard. The music industry is part of the Creative Arts business including cinema and theatre, in which music is integrated into them. The only aim of the music industry is to make money with their product (the music) to make a profit to pay themselves ,the musicians and the writers.

There are three different stage to get music distributed out to the public, they are:Creation where the music is made by the musicians.
Production where the music is produced by a record company.
Distribution where the public are able to access the recorded music.The record company pays for all three of these for the music and they use the royalties that is payed to all the musicians, producers, composers and the record company to pay for that.however royalties is only a small amount off? money that comes from each time the song is brought or used in other forms of media.
There are four major record labels in world and they account for 70% of music sales worldwide and 85% of music sales in the U.S.

From Latin America they represent 27 artists including; Axel, Sandy, Coti?and motov.
The last place they represent people from is Asia Pacific, they represent 37 artists including; GReeeeN, Avalanches, Hins?Cheung and Hacken Lee.
The Universal Music Group is from American origins and was part of the MCA music company. In 1995 the Seagram Company Ltd. brought 80% of MCA, music company. The next year they renamed it from MCA to Universal Studios, Inc. The musical division was renamed Universal Music Group.

Sony Music Entertainment, was first called American Record Corporation (ARC) in 1929. It was made up of many different companies, some brought? in the great depression, such as the Columbia Phonograph Company. ARC was then brought by the Columbia Broadcasting system, (that was sold off before the rest of Columbia Phonograph Company) in 1938. ARC was then renamed Columbia Recording Company. It wasnt until 1987 that Sony brought the company and it wasnt named Sony Music Entertainment until 1991.

The EMI Music group started in 1897 as part of the Gramophone Company and Columbia Phonograph, and is renamed Columbia Graphopnone in 1917. They establish the Electrola company in Germany. In 1931 Gramaphone Company and Columbia Graphophone?comt together to form Electric and Musica Industries (EMI), it becomes a label in the US in 1952. In 1955 it takes?over Capitol Records in LA (one of the largest in america). Two years later EMI Records UK is established. Harvest Records are established in 1969. five years later EMI Musical Publishing formed. In 1979 Libery/United Artists record company is brought including Blue Note label. Ten years later SBK Entertainment World is brought. A year later 50% of Crysalis Records is gained the other fifty brought the next year. Also in 1990 Filmtrax catalogue is brought. Virgin Music Group?s record labels and publishing catalogue gained along eith Sparrow Records, in 1992. The next year Astralwerks Records established in New York. 1994 is the year they take the controlling intrest in Japanese company Toshiba-EMI, in 2006 they gain full control and rename it EMI Music Japan. They also take over Intercord in Germany in 1994. EMI gained 50% of Priority Records in the US and gained the other 50% in 1998. EMI create the EMI Music Sound Foudation a charity.
Warner Music Group owns 12.2% of the music industry it is made up of Asylum, Atlantic, Cordless, East West, Elektra, Nonesuch, Reprise, Rhino, Roadrunner, Ryko, Sire, Warner Bros., Warner Music Nashville and Word.
