Greenberg Traurig attorney and Iraq War Veteran Adam Siegler, in 2009, saw a need for a comprehensive resource guide dedicated to helping his fellow veterans identify the pro bono legal providers in their communities and improving their access to them. Three years later -- thanks to a dedicated team of law students from Loyola Law School and generous support from a number of law firms, agencies and individuals -- six volumes of The Veterans Access to Legal Organizations and Resources (VALOR) Guide? have been completed and published.

LOS ANGELES (Nov. 12, 2012) ? Greenberg Traurig attorney and Iraq War Veteran Adam Siegler, in 2009, saw a need for a comprehensive resource guide dedicated to helping his fellow veterans identify the pro bono legal providers in their communities and improving their access to them. Three years later -- thanks to a dedicated team of law students from Loyola Law School and generous support from a number of law firms, agencies and individuals -- six volumes of The Veterans Access to Legal Organizations and Resources (VALOR) Guide? have been completed and published.The VALOR Guide? gathers all known providers in a particular region that offer pro bono legal services, which veterans may need and have earned through their military service to the United States. Each guide contains a database of legal service providers, organized by practice area, geography and alphabetically. The name ?VALOR Guide? was developed by Greenberg Traurig Corporate & Securities attorney Jack McBride, who also assisted with the project and is a member of the 2012-2013 editorial board. More than 600 copies have been produced and distributed in California to date.
?The VALOR Guide?s intended role is one of connectivity, and it was designed to serve as a resource,? said Siegler. ?By region, it?s a comprehensive publication that identifies the law firms, clinics and service providers who are equipped and experienced to handle a veteran?s specific issues or needs.?
The first six volumes of The VALOR Guide? were developed for California and include:
Siegler has a goal of expanding The VALOR Guide? beyond California to other major metropolitan areas where there are large populations of veterans. He also plans to work on developing a national online searchable database, which he hopes will be operational in 2013.
?Our sole focus in this project is to honor our veterans,? said Siegler. ?We want to make sure that our veterans and other social service agencies have this resource available to them so that there is better coordination among all the providers of these free legal services.?
?I want to thank the many people who have given their support to this project, especially the students of Loyola Law, and to the legal service providers who offer their pro bono services to our veterans every day,? added McBride. ?This project would not have been possible without their unwavering commitment and dedication.?
The VALOR Guide? reflects the joint efforts of Greenberg Traurig, LLP and Loyola Law School, under the leadership of Dean Victor Gold and Professor Barbara Blanco, along with many supporters from the legal community, including the Los Angeles County Bar Association, Public Counsel?s Center for Veterans Advancement and the Inner City Law Center.

Siegler is Of Counsel in the Litigation Department of the Los Angeles office of Greenberg Traurig. He is a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve and was deployed to Iraq in 2008 and 2009. He is the author of the ?Wounded Warrior Bill of Rights,? and received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Loyola Law School.
McBride is a Shareholder in the Corporate and Securities practice in the firm?s Los Angeles office. He is a founding editorial board member of The VALOR Guide. He has more than 30 years of experience in leading M&A, joint venture and financing deals for a wide range of industries. He received his J.D. from St. John?s University School of Law.
